Memorial Day, the day of the year that we set aside to remember and honor those who have served our country in the Armed Forces. They have fought that we may continue to live in the Land of the Free. To those who are serving and those who have served we honor you and thank you for the sacrifices you have made that we may enjoy these freedoms. This country was founded on freedoms and the belief in those freedoms. One of those freedoms that we enjoy today is the freedom of religion. We are blessed to serve our God in the way we feel is right for us, without the threat of the government or ours.
On this Memorial Day let us remember another set of warriors that we too should honor as well. The writer of the Book of Hebrews in chapter 12 and verse 1 says, " Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us." These "clouds of witnesses" are those who have fought the battle before us. They have walked the path and have give us lights that we can follow. They have fought the good fight leaving us some great Pastoral Resources and we are grateful to them as well.
To those who have given their lives, given their time, and given their abilities that we may enjoy all of these freedoms; to them we give you honor and our thanks for you service. To those that have gone on before us in the Christian Battle, we too give you honor and our thanks.
